Faculty of Management

As the world becomes more borderless and globalized, Japanese corporations have faced more competition in both domestic and international markets. To cope with increased competition, they have tried to utilize whatever resources they have in more efficient and productive ways to keep their leading position, and to recruit university students with stronger motivation to success, in addition to basic knowledge and skills to deal with daily problems. Students have also increased their desires to develop their own capabilities to accommodate themselves to the needs of the corporations. They have increasingly asked universities to provide various courses necessary for them either to be a public servant, or to be an expert on accounting, or to be an entrepreneur to build and run their own company in the foreseeable future.

To meet increased needs both from corporations and students, the Faculty of Management has frequently revised its curriculum to help students transform their interests and passions into career opportunities. The current curriculum was updated and revised in 2006 and will be applied to new students from April 2007. The new curriculum on major subjects will enable students (1) to build a solid and broad foundation of general management concepts and skills across all the key disciplines; and (2) to integrate them into an understanding of the firm as a total enterprise.

Department of Management

In order to provide students with the ability and skills required by corporations, the Faculty offers five areas of specialization: (1) management system; (2) strategic management; (3) organizational management; (4) accounting and cost managementEEand (5) business science. Each area of specializations offers students the latest management theories and practices as well as internship programs so that students can deepen their knowledge and experience in a particular area of their interest. The Faculty also asks people working in the business frontier to give lectures in the classroom for students to truly personalize their education on management and gain experience in their chosen field.

Department of Business System

The Department of Business System offers students five areas of specialization: (1) business systems in contemporary society; (2) global management; (3) the entrepreneurial managers; (4) accounting and cost management; and (5) business science. Each area of specializations enables students to study the economic environment of business better and helps them understand the implications for the companies. Students can also take the internship programs to deepen their knowledge and experience in a particular area of their interest. Like the Department of Management, the Faculty invites business people to give lectures in the classroom so that students can truly understand their education on business and gain experience in their chosen field.

The Faculty's Office is on the 5th floor of the Ninth Building.
