Beginning is a small fancy goods shop. It was opening of Tiffany's shining history. The sales of the first day are only 4 dollars 98 cents. Still, young Charles Lewis Tiffany burns with hope, and polishes the sense of his business.
It was 1837years that founder Charles Lewis Tiffany founded the "Tiffany & young company" to Broadway in New York in collaboration with a friend's John B young. The capital is 1000 dollars which Charles borrowed from the father. It's was a small store treating the curio imported from Japan or China, fancy goods and stationery. Charles was excellent in the talent which takes a time in advance, and put the original management idea into execution one after another. For example, there are introduction of a world's first price system (1940), establishment of a standard virgin silver method which defines silver purity to 92.5% (1944), issue of a world¼s first mail order catalog which can place an order for somewhere in United States (1945). The standard virgin silver method is also used as a federal method now. Moreover, advancing to Europe, begging import sale of jewel, the famous diamond of Marie Antoinette possession coming to hand, or buying the surplus cable, carving into paper weight, and putting on the market with a genuine article certificate as opening of traffic commemoration goods, when an Atlantic Ocean crossing telegraphic in 58 etc. was the person who excelled also in the production of subject. History of Tiffany have keyword for became famous. This is blue box and tiffany diamond and tiffany setting so on. This peculiar blue known as TIFANI blue which is the elegant blue box which symbolizes Tiffany who came to be used from 1837 was also the color used for the title deed of land, or the cover of a residents ledger in the West of those days. While this color is a noble-minded symbol, it expresses water, empty, and dazzling morning sunlight. It was chosen as the outstanding quality, a design, and a technical symbol. This color is known as an image color of the Tiffany & Co. in the world since then.
The Tiffany diamond is a fancy yellow diamond discovered in the Kimberley diamond mine in South Africa in 1877. charles Lewis Tiffany purchased it for 18000 dollars in 1878 and carries it to Paris instantly for cutting. And finally the diamond which had no less than 287.42k at the beginning was cut into 128.5k by prominent jewelry scholar Dr. George who took part in the planning of Tiffany in 1879. And he used the BURIRIAN cut of cushion SHIEIPU which can pull out the beauty of this diamond to the maximum extent. It is said that the size and brightness surprised people of those days as it is visible clearly also from the other side of a passage when it is once decorated by the show window of the New York head office only at once.
Now, Tiffany devised the method of setting a diamond by the nail which became natural for the first time. It¼s called Tiffany setting. Charles devised the arrangement which lifts one grain of diamond by small 6 nails. Since the ring till then was embedding the stone in the ring itself, although transparent beautiful brightness was not fully able to express, when making into the minimum the portion which hides by the nail, light can be taken in from various angles and the diamond could be twinkled. By this, the diamond established the status of the queen of jewelry(Elle, 2002).
To the winner of the low INGU trophy of the 1870s, and the sport event held in the United States, the customs of the ancient Greece of giving a trophy to a victorious proof revived. Tiffany got the hint from the sailing boat of the 16th century France, a pirate ship, the gondola in Venezia, etc., and it has designed many elaborate trophies. This work is what was made as a trophy of a boat game called low INGU which was popular as a university sport, and multiplied the long boat type pirate ship and the image of gondola. 1874 work (Rowing Trophy).
three designers ‚ Many jewelry designers built culture excellent in art and elegance 0f Tiffany and have supported the long history since foundation. And there are three designers who cannot lack when telling present Tiffany. One person is Jean Shurambaze. Tiffany which began to tackle creation of a new design was able to turn him on the vice president as a new jewelry designer in 1956. She is followed and it is Paloma Picasso announced the collection in 80. She was born as Picasso's daughter in 49. And Ibu Sanro-ren evaluated her jewelry design of her first. Her features are the use of color can think inheritance from a father and a forcible form and X characters and motif with the continuity using the heart. The individual work in which feel the play heart is popular among a young woman sensitive to a fashion. Now this two female designers shoulder Tiffany (Sankei Shimbun, 1999c).
